Greater Macomb PHO Lean Initiative
Greater Macomb PHO has engaged several physician practice units in the Lean Initiative offered by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan. This initiative is part of the BCBSM Physician Group Initiative Program (PGIP).
This nine-month collaborative effort (starting in October 2011) will provide an opportunity for the practice units to become familiar with and implement Lean principles in their offices. Additionally, the practice units will work through practice transformation concepts as well as establish collaborative relationships with other Greater Macomb PHO practice units.
Practice units have chosen to work on improving their process for either adult preventive visits or diabetes visits. At the end of this collaborative, the practice units will have tools that will be of value to them as they look to improve other work processes within their office.
